#196 Unmarked. Lignum Vitae wood.
“San Francisco wooden” insulator used on the trolley system in San Francisco, California. Cable top type. There is some variation in the overall contours of these historic insulators. This example has a fairly deep side groove, and is the variant with an inner skirt.
Insulator surface has been cleaned, and appears to have been lightly waxed.
