#197 Unmarked. Lignum Vitae wood.
“San Francisco wooden” insulator used on the trolley system in San Francisco, California. Much scarcer, round top type. The cable top types were used on straight sections, with the heavy conductor placed in the top saddle groove. This round top design was used on corners, thus far fewer of them are available in the hobby.
Cleaned and very light wax or oil treatment to the wood. Base and inside of skirt not cleaned, retaining areas of thick, original paint.
Shallow chip on wire ridge is smaller than a pinkie nail. Another on upper skirt is fingernail size. Wood has dried resulting in a spit on the skirt.
