Description

#241     CD 123     EC&M CO. S.F.      Sapphire blue.     "H" mold variant with 3-15/16 height.

A beautiful and rarely encountered color.  Additionally, and quite important, are all the special "character" aspects of this 1870's gem!  The pinhole is completely distorted, some portions appearing nearly threadless.  The pinhole depth is also very short, measuring only 3/4," and in places only having three, and sometimes two threads!

The side skirt is buckled inward, creating a sizable indentation on the exterior.  The dome has an unusual feature, appearing to have formed when air was trapped in the mold during manufacture.  With a side view, it almost appears as a small marble projecting outward from the insulator interior.

Add in plenty of thick dome glass, and we have a unique example in a seldom seen color.  Quite an oddball for the EC&M specialist!

The sharp, thin base remains in excellent condition.  Has a few minor, small flakes on the very lower skirt.

Surface annealing line stays shallow across the top of the dome, and goes somewhat further into the glass on the side dome, next to the open "marble" area.

Character!
