Description

#312     735      U.P.R.R.     MULFORD & BIDDLE.     Teal.

Insulators with "Mulford & Biddle" and "U.P.R.R." marking were mostly produced in aquamarine colored glass.  Various dark blue shades are much scarcer.  True green units, and these teal examples are even more rarely encountered.  While not as vivid or striking as the darker blue units, these teal jewels are still quite impressive, and look great in a lineup of various shades and hues in the UPRR insulators.

Three fully enclosed bubbles in the wire groove and dome area are positioned one over top the other, adding eye appeal.

The hardness of this colored glass resulted in resistance to surface staining, so the glass remains free of any etching.  No chips or distracting surface blemishes.  Two base bruises, the largest shown in the photo, has only a two (smaller than match head) associated flakes, so almost no glass is missing from the entire insulator.

From the collection of the late Lawrence Carpenter.
