Description

#319     CD 109.5     HARLOE'S PATENT     MAR 21. '99     MAR 12. '01     DEC 9, '02.     P.1     Blue aqua.

The small size, glass Harloe insulator.  The  three "fingers" overlapped each other, thus gripping the line wire.  The smaller size Harloe has been found in limited locations, including eastern Pennsylvania, Michigan and Maine.

The Harloe insulators are among the more unusually designed styles.  The Harloe Insulator Company produced some examples of Harloe patent insulators during its brief operation of a glass factory in Elmer, New Jersey.  Shortly thereafter the glass making facility in Hawley, Pennsylvania became operational and the Harloe patent insulators were produced there.

The company was so confident of the design’s popularity, that they produced in excess of 20 individual Harloe Patent molds in various sizes.  Obviously, their popularity never materialized, as examples of all mold variants remain rare today.

They are seldom offered for sale, and rarely in excellent condition.  This is an exceptional example, remaining in very near mint+ condition.
