#374 Unmarked. Lignum Vitae wood.
Known as the "San Francisco wooden," these insulators were used on the famous San Francisco trolley system. They date from approximately 1904. The "cable top" or "saddle groove" type was produced with or without an inner skirt, this one without. The especially hard wood was very durable, and many of the insulators remained in service for several decades after installation.
Excellent, lightly finished condition.
