Description

#397        CD 136.7       PAT OCT 15 1872         Snowy aqua.       Three segmented threads.

Opaque, white flakes and particles, along with numerous bubbles in the glass, create a semi-opaque appearance.

The embossed date appears on the flat collar formed below the segmented threads.  The patent referenced is one issued to Samuel Oakman for the process of forming threads in glass.  This insulator was perhaps one of the latest types produced using Oakman's segmented threads, likely after the demise of Boston Bottle Works.

An insulator seldom encountered in plain aqua, and especially desirable with the white impurities in the glass.  Anyone with a collection of "Bostons" should pay special attention to this rarity.

Just a little flaking on the edges of two small surface bubbles at the inner base edge.  Shallow, pencil eraser diameter flake in the wire groove.  Short, faint hairline in upper skirt.
