Description

#398      CD 158      BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS.   PATENT APPLIED FOR.      Light aqua.     Four segmented threads.  

Boston Bottle Works operated in Somerville, Massachusetts circa 1871-1877.  The facility produced various articles of glass, including several different styles of telegraph insulators.  Most insulators made at the BBW factory were produced with Samuel Oakman’s patented segmented threads.

Fracture at top of pinhole was photographed on the most noticeable side.  Can be displayed form another side where the fracture shows little.   Embossing on the inner skirt is flawless.  None of the usual flaking on the internal threads.
