#494 CD 123 E.C&M CO S.F. Dark aqua with carbon and steam. "B" mold with 4-5/16" height.
Produced for the Electrical Construction & Maintenance Company of San Francisco, California during the 1870's.
Carbon and steamy opaque impurities stretch from dome to base in the entire front of the insulator and a portion of the reverse. With back lighting, the impurities appear as dark streaks and bubbles. With proper bright bottom lighting, the appearance takes on a dramatic transformation! The streaks then become much more opaque in appearance!
Shallow bruise is just under the surface on the front base (seen as a dark area to the left in first photo). Remainder of insulator is very near mint+. Two oblong shapes to the right in photo are fully enclosed bubbles, not damage.
