#499 CD 162 H.G. CO. PETTICOAT. Vivid, dark peacock blue. Smooth base.
A somewhat squatty stature with narrow wire groove, compared to the amber unit in the previous lot.
Some of the peacock blue, smooth base HG Co signals now in collections have surfaced in the St. Louis area. They remain quite scarce in the hobby compared to the drip pointed examples, with perhaps only one smooth base peacock blue example for every 35 or 40 with drip points.
Shallow chipping up from the base, under the HG Co embossing and associated bruise. Flat base chip on reverse base is 1/4 the distance around base. Fingernail chip on reverse skirt and another in reverse wire groove.
