Description

#548       CD 123      E.C&M CO S.F.      Cobalt blue.      "F" mold with 4-1/4" height.

The "F" mold is among the earlier mold variants for EC&M insulators, likely dating from a period of time shortly after EC&M insulators started being produced in the early 1870's.

The cobalt blue colored EC&M is one of the all time classic insulators that is highly sought by collectors.  They represent the early days of the Western Frontier.  Many of those now in collections serviced mining regions of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona and as far north as the goldfields of Barkerville, British Columbia, Canada.

The dome and skirt areas of the insulator remain in excellent condition.  The base has three, shallow chips that are only half pinkie nail size, which is quite nice condition for an EC&M (see photos).

"Burled wood" pattern on the glass surface is especially attractive.  Quite a beauty!
