#557      145      V.     AM. INSULATOR CO. N.Y.        DOUBLE PETTICOAT     PAT’D SEPT. 13 1881, NOV. 13 1883.         Yellow green.    

Wide groove variant with heavy, stocky stature.

Produced using Samuel Oakman’s collapsible threading plunger.  This process was one of many clever inventions by Oakman, and undoubtedly helped to speed along the process of removing the threading plunger, once the insulator was pressed.  The beehive style was manufactured for the American Insulator company in an array of various attractive colors. 

Exceptionally nice, very near mint condition.
