Description

#682      CD 130.1      CAL. ELEC. WORKS    PATENT.       Rich sapphire-cobalt blue.

Typically the CD 130.1 insulator is found in dark cobalt blue.  This lighter than normal sapphire-cobalt coloration is many times harder to find.

Most known exotic blue CD 130.1 have been recovered on the route the Ridge Telephone Company line, which was constructed shortly after the formation of California Electrical Works in 1877.  The line was built for controlling water used in hydraulic mining.  The first long distance telephone line in the world, it extended from French Corral, North San Juan, and Graniteville, California to reservoirs high in the mountains to the east.

Of the eight flute sections, five remain in perfect condition!.  Only three of the eight flute sections have flakes or chips.  The first two photos show the insulator from front and reverse.  The third and fourth photos are the same, with added white dots outlining the blemishes.

The base remains in wonderful condition, with no chips!   The nicest looking base you could possibly ever expect to see on an exotic blue, Cal Elec Works insulator!

Update:  7:35 P.M Sunday, September 13.  5th photo added showing a top view of this unique style insulator.
