Description

#832       CD 105      AM. INS. CO.      PAT SEP 13 1881      Aqua.

The wire ridges on the CD 105 “American” pony have a rather peculiar shape, unlike that found on any other pony style insulator.

Most likely produced shortly after the granting of Oakman’s 1881 patent, this is probably one of the earlier designs manufactured with the American insulator Company marking. Some examples of this type insulator are believed to have possibly been produced at a glass factory in Ellenville, New York. Other insulator styles made for the American Insulator Company are known to have been produced by a glass company in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, suggesting another possible manufacturer of this design.

Some small flakes on the lower wire ridge, but much nicer condition in that area than most examples. A very shallow base bruise goes nearly undetected (see second photo).
