Description

#842      CD 133.2      L.A.C.   PATD JULY 25TH 1865      P&W       Dark green aqua.

An early threaded insulator with very thick glass and bold embossing.  Believed to have possibly been manufactured in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.  The meaning of the "P&W" marking is unknown, but could represent names of individuals who were associated with the glass factory that produced them, or perhaps a supply company that distributed them.  They have been found in numerous locations, indicating the marking likely does not represent a railroad name, as some collectors have suggested in the past.

Just a thin, match head flake on reverse, so easily grades very near mint!
