Description

#882         735        MULFORD & BIDDLE        Aqua.

Produced for Mulford & Biddle, a company which advertised in the middle 1860’s as a manufacturer of black and galvanized telegraph wire.  Apparently, for a period of time, they also supplied other telegraph related material.

Examples of the 735 with Mulford & Biddle marking have been found primarily in the West, mostly in California, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana and to the north in British Columbia.

Aside from the hazy surface from exposure to alkaline soil, the insulator remains in very near mint condition!  Surface annealing in the pinhole is not damage, mentioned only for accuracy to anyone who might not like them.  Two small, v shaped surface bruises below the embossing (see photo).
