#886 731 TILLOTSON Dark cobalt blue.
Reportedly from the Steamer Sherman shipwreck which sank in 1874 off the coast of North Carolina. The 731 Tillotson has been found in a fairly wide assortment of attractive colors, all but the aqua shades being scarce to rare. This is one of the more desirable colors, and quite popular with collectors.
Strong embossing on most of the lettering with average strength embossing on the "SON." Much nicer embossing than some examples! Completely free of any of the usual fractures!!! Satin surface and some small surface blemishes from exposure to saltwater. One of the better condition examples in existence.
