Description

#894      CD 123      E.C&M CO. S.F.     Dark, opaque green.      “F” mold.     4-1/2” height.

A tall one! Opaque impurities throughout the glass create a jade-like appearance. Rare, with only a handful known in this unusual and attractive opaque color.

Various dark green hues and shades have been found in the “A” and “F” mold EC&M’s. Of the few different dark green examples in collections, most have been discovered on the route of an early telegraph line constructed by the Northern Pacific Telegraph Company. The line’s primary purpose was to connect San Francisco with the lumber mills along the Northern California coast. The line extended from the San Francisco Bay area to Eureka and beyond. With completion in late 1873, this was one of the earlier lines to use embossed EC&M’s.

Flat chipping on front base, and related penny size chip inside front skirt. Flat skirt flake.
