Description

#898      CD 133.1      PAT. APP. FOR.     3.       Bright olive toned green.

Wonderful color!  Excellent brightness and color saturation in this beauty, and it has strong olive tones and amber impurities in the glass!

Typically found in aqua or "Brooke's blue" only a small number of darker green examples are known.  The green examples referred to are all more "emerald" toned.  This is the only example we've ever encountered with strong olive toning. The amber impurities mixed throughout put it way over the top!  An amazing color!

A related family of insulators exist including the CD's 120, 125 and 133.1 with either "Brookes" or "Pat App For" markings and the CD 109 and 135 Chicago embossed insulators.  They were all manufactured using a specific molding technique to form the threads which was patented by Homer Brookes on August 14, 1883.  Some or all may have been produced at a glass factory in Ellenville, New York.

Four small b-b pings on the surface, mostly slightly bigger than pinhead size, with one being somewhat larger within the "APP" marking.  Tight, 3/4" flash up from the base as seen in second image.  Smaller than pinkie nail, bubble chip on the base.  All considered minor on an item of this caliber!  A beauty!
