Description

#911     CD 126.4        W.E. MFG. CO.      PATENT DEC. 19. 1871.      W.U.      J.       Cornflower blue.

Produced by the Hemingray Glass Company for the Western Electric Manufacturing Company. Western Electric had its origins in Cleveland, Ohio with the formation of Gray & Barton in 1869. In 1872 the business was moved to Chicago, and the Western Electric Manufacturing Company was incorporated.

Cornflower blue 126.4’s were found along a railroad line in Kansas decades ago. They were discovered in differing color densities, this being one of the more attractive, darker units.

Two flakes on the base. One is the size of a wooden match head, the other the size of two match heads placed end to end. Otherwise, very near mint+.
