Description

#946      U-186      PATENED AUG 11-14      OTHER PAT’S PEND’G (spelling error “Patened)      Brown porcelain.

Research indicates that all of the Purkey patent insulators with a traceable provenance have been traced to usage in the State of Washington. Benjamin Purkey, a resident of Tacoma, Washington received a patent on August 11, 1914 for this novel insulator. Limited numbers of them were recovered by power company linemen 45 to 50 years ago.

Due to the complex design, the insulators were molded in three separate pieces and then glaze welded together.

Fingernail flake (with narrow extending tail) inside the slot. Remainder in super condition.
