Description

#1002       CD 160.7       AM. INSULATOR CO. N.Y.      Bright green.

Finely detailed, base embossing with additional 1881 and 1883 patent dates. Tall dome with attractive “sno-cone” design. This design is relatively scarce in aqua, but rarely encountered in this fabulous, vivid green coloration!

Produced using Samuel Oakman’s patented threading process, possibly at the Lyndeborough Glass Company in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, where exceptionally high quality glass was produced.

We have confirmed around ten to exist, with half or more either with repair or fairly significant damage. An amazingly beautiful and highly desirable insulator.

Index fingernail chip on the sharp wire ridge (see center of second photo). Slightly elongated, dime chip on the lower skirt (see center of third photo).  Displays very near mint+.  A little damage, but not bad for this design, and in better condition than half of the few known to exist.

Fabulous color!

From the collection of the late John Ayer.
