#1018 CD 132 PATENT DEC.19. 1871. 2 Rich amethyst.
Excellent color saturation and some attractive bubbles in the glass. One of only perhaps about a half dozen confirmed examples known in this rich, dark amethyst coloration.
Numerous very light amethyst tinted examples have been found, primarily in Colorado, but these dark beauties are rarely encountered. Most or all known dark examples surfaced in western Pennsylvania. One was discovered on a standing telegraph pole, decades ago, in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Another was dug in an Erie, Pennsylvania privy.
Produced by the Hemingray Glass Company in Covington, Kentucky.
Strong embossing and very near mint condition.
Dick Bowman collection.
