Description

#1049      740.7      Unmarked.       Dark green.

A major "slumper!"  The insulator tilted to one side during manufacture when the glass was still hot, resulting in a severely pinched wire groove!  This gem has CHARACTER to the max!  The Canadian made 740.7 is a seldom seen pilgrim hat when normally formed, and unique with this wonderful character.

Examples of 740.7 threadless are known to have been used on a railway line completed during the late 1850's in Ontario, so they are among Canada's oldest produced insulators.

Passes light when viewed through one thickness of glass, so it's not "black-glass" like some examples.

If you like your threadless in great condition, here's another shiny, very near mint beauty!

Dick Bowman collection.
