Description

#1050      740      E. DUPONT      ST. JEAN.      Blackglass.      Base embossed.

Another great "slumper!"  The upper portion of the insulator tilted to one side when the glass was still hot and pliable, resulting in a wonderful "character" piece!

The "E Dupont" marking on the base references Eusebe Dupont, who was involved with a glass factory in St Jean (St Johns) Canada East, circa 1860 to possibly the middle 1860's.

Has only a couple very shallow, minor pinkie nail flakes, up from the base, and some smaller, trivial surface blemishes.  Embossing is fully intact on the crudely textured  base.

Dick Bowman collection.
