Description

#1145      CD 106      MC LAUGHLIN   NO 9.      Light aqua.    1" nail inside glass.

Quite a curiosity with the nail inside the glass!  On rare occasions, metallic objects ended up in a glass batch, usually brought in with cullet.  Oftentimes, objects with iron content caused the surrounding glass to appear dark olive green due to the iron oxide contamination, adding interesting and attractive color.

Produced by the McLaughlin Glass Company, located at 52nd and Alameda Streets in Vernon, California.  William McLaughlin operated the plant from 1920 to 1935, producing at least a dozen different insulator styles, mostly for use on low voltage applications.

Very near mint+ condition!.
