Description

#1186      734       Mc MICKING      VICTORIA. B.C. 75        Aqua with opaque impurities.

Patches and strings of milky opaque impurities add character to this Canadian threadless.

Produced for Robert McMicking who traversed across Canada in the 1860’s to settle in British Columbia.  He was employed for a period of time on the “Collins” line which was operated by the Western Union Telegraph Company.  He received an insulator patent in the 1870’s.

Most of the 734 McMicking insulators currently in the hobby were discovered at two locations along the North Thompson River in British Columbia.  They had been cached at those locations in advance of a telegraph line project in the mid 1870’s, which was subsequently abandoned.

The base is flawless with not even one tiny flake!  Remainder of insulator is fabulous, very near mint+ condition!
