Description

#1265      BROOKS'  PAT    CP RR     AUG. 6   1867.     Iron with near colorless glass.

Iron cylindrical shell with glass "bottle" insert. Embossed on the top end with high relief lettering. These can be found with the word “Patent” spelled out or abbreviated "Pat," this being the abbreviated variant.

These unique insulators were produced in large quantities by David Brooks of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the 1860’s and shipped to the West Coast for use on the historic Central Pacific Railroad, which formed the western segment of America’s first transcontinental rail line.

Excellent condition.
