#1717 CD 125 PAT APP FOR W. U. 5 Slightly opaque blue aqua.
This is one of several insulator styles produced during the 1880's using a pinhole threading method patented on August 14 1883. Possibly produced by a glasshouse in Ellenville, N.Y.
Note this example marked with "W.U." rather than just a "5 over a letter."
The embossed "5" on reverse skirt is large and an attractive fancy script style.
Very near mint.
