Half of a threadless pilgrim hat style insulator, often referred to as a "washboard." Found by a collector several years ago on the ground surface along a railroad right of way in New York State. Imagine, walking along and seeing this insulator sticking out of the ground, the rounded side up, and thinking it was whole!
A rare color for this seldom seen style. We only know of one similar whole example.
Stands on its own, as it's a little over one half complete.
Still retains dirt on the surface... it's never been washed!
