#1875 CD 143 MONTREAL TELEGRAPH CO. Blue.
Embossed on one mold half.
Well saturated, bright blue coloration.
The Montreal Telegraph Company was one of Canada’s earliest communication companies, having been formed in 1847. These jewels date from the later portion of M.T. Co. existence, likely from the middle 1870's to perhaps the very early 1880's.
Blemish on the dome (visible in photo to the right of pinhole) is a little larger than a wooden match head. A couple small touch marks from contact in the annealing lehr remain clean and non-distracting. Otherwise, the insulator is very near mint.
Plunkett Family Collection. Skip Plunkett states this beauty is from Ontario.
