Various deeply colored insulators are termed "blackglass" by collectors, but few are this dark. Most deeply colored glass shows some sign of green or amber where the glass is thin... not this one! Truly "black" glass, not allowing any light to pass at all.
Dark amber and dark olive-amber examples are not difficult to locate, but these black units are quite scarce.
No chips or dings. Surface has some oxidation which could be left natural, or could be removed without much effort. We personally like it left as found.
