Description

#2072       731        TILLOTSON.         Light aqua.

Aqua examples of this type insulator have been found at various locations.  Of those found, a fair percentage were discovered in New England, mostly in Maine.

Produced circa middle 1860's to early 1870's for Tillotson, who was operating as "L.G. Tillotson & Company" at the time these "compromise" style threadless insulators were manufactured.  The concave skirt design was developed in the middle 1860's, and was produced in numerous mold variants ranging from the 729 through 732.4 series.

Has a arc bruise on the left front skirt that's about 1/2 the size of a 50¢ coin.  It blends in quite well and barely noticeable.  Otherwise, only a couple pinkie nail flakes up form the base.

Surface is bright and shiny.  Nice embossing.
