Description

#2125     728.4     W. BROOKFIELD    55 FULTON ST. N.Y.      CAUVET'S PAT JULY 25 1865.     Aqua.

Dome embossing on both mold halves.  The presence of the July 1865 Cauvet patent date is unusual, as that patent was for a threaded pinhole!  Only limited number of these oddities have been found at various locations, including Texas and New Mexico, where they were used on government built lines.

Embossing on the front is well pronounced, more so than on many examples.  Embossing on reverse dome is partly readable, and partly not.

Flat base chip traverses about 20% around.  See base center in second photo.

From the collection of the late Cecil Boos.
