Description

#2224        B - T   GLASS CO.       Black glass.       2-1/2" height.

Insulator collecting was was quite popular in the 1970's, and the hobby was growing by leaps and bounds.  Collectors seemed to be everywhere, and word spread among the general public that insulators were something seek out.  The area around Millville, New Jersey was a hotbed for collector interest, owing to the fact that insulators had been produced there for many decades.

Two machinists, who had insulator collecting friends in the area, decided to make a couple small molds and produce insulator novelties.  The result.... these double groove "insulators" complete with internal screw thread.  The "B - T Glass Co" embossing represented the first names of the men... Bob and Tom.  They were produced in very limited numbers, and are rarely encountered by collectors today.

This and the following three items are from the Bob Moss collection.  Please note, the person who helped create these items coincidentally was also named Bob, but it was not Bob Moss.

Embossing is weak and incomplete on this under-poured example.

Very, very near mint.

Bob Moss collection.
