Description

#2242       CD 131     L.G. TILLOTSON & CO      BROOKE'S PAT    JAN 25TH 1870       (two 1870 dates)      Aqua.

Boldly embossed on the front dome and front skirt, plus strongly embossed additional patent dates on reverse skirt.

Produced for L.G. Tillotson  & Company, a New York City business dealing in railway and telegraph supplies.  Very few of these early threaded insulators have been found, limited numbers having surfaced in the Denver, Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming ares.  A couple have surfaced in eastern Pennsylvania as well.

An item that only surfaces for sale on average, once every three or four years.  Compare the rarity/value of this item to other early threaded items which are much more readily available, and one will quickly see the true value of these desirable old timers.

Displays very close to mint from the front!  A few scattered, small flakes and surface blemishes on base and reverse.  Sizable chip (cleanly removed) on reverse wire ridge (outlined with white dots in second photo).
