Description

#2305       CD 133.4       Unmarked.       Sapphire blue.

Wonderful depth of color in this attractive, true sapphire blue old timer!  The only example we've encountered in this well saturated color.  We're aware of one cobalt blue example, and several units that have "washed out," more pastel blue shades.  This one however, has a whole lot more of desirability and value than the lighter units, due to a much more jazzy color!

Typically termed a "Wormser bullet," the origins of their manufacture is simply speculation.  The Wormser Glass Company is known to have produced insulators for a communication company that constructed lines where numerous aqua and amethyst examples of this type bullet were found in service many years ago.  Therefore, it's been speculated that Wormser was a possible source.

A fairly sizable grouping of various attractive color tones can be assembled in this type insulator.  Examples in the purple family range from very light pink to a fairly dark shade of amethyst, with many shades in between.  Green units occasionally surface, and some offbeat colors including an unusual bluish gray tone are known.  The three most exotic colors are cobalt blue, this jazzy sapphire unit and amber.

This one surfaced many decades ago, and was part of the Cecil Boos collection since about the early 1980's.

Very near mint.
