Description

#2330        CD 127.4       Unmarked.       Light amethyst.

Although unmarked, all molding characteristics strongly suggest Hemingray as the probable manufacturer. This style is among the earliest threaded insulators made by them, and is the design used in their 1871 patent application illustration, shown above.

Displays excellent, as seen in the first photo.  Second photo shows an area below the wire groove that has a series of small "peck marks," causing some very shallow pitting.  Some oxidation under the surface in that area creates a white appearance.  A small amount of similar characteristics above the wire groove.  Shallow chip and dime size bruise on inside of lower skirt also has some white oxidation.  Nearly all the blemishes are on one side of the insulator.

Quite a rare item, especially in this color!!!!  How many examples in this color have been for sale in the past 25 years?
