Description

#2357       CD 269       JUMBO       Dark aqua.

The eared Jumbo towers above most older styles of single piece, power glass insulators, measuring 7-1/4" in height.

This eared design was described in 1900’s electrical supply catalogues as the “New Jumbo.” The ability to carry large conductors in a saddle groove was an improvement over the side groove CD 140. Used on street railways and also in large mills.

There's an extra large pinhole in this Brookfield product.

The two vintage photos show a Cincinnati, Ohio street scene during the early 1900's.  Note four eared Jumbos on the lower cross-arm of each pole.

Shallow, pinkie nail flake on top of ear.  Shallow, narrow, open bubble on the wire ridge can be seen just left of center in the first photo.  Dime size chip on lower part of wire ridge can be seen to the right in second photo.  A little damage, but nicer than many examples.
