Description

#2441       CD 135       CHICAGO INSULATING CO.      PAT OCT. 16 1883.      Blue aqua.       Base embossed.

An elongated bubble in the lower skirt and yarn-like, milky opaque impurities streaked though the glass add wonderful character to this base embossed beauty.

A highly unusual design, likely produced at a glassworks in Ellenville, New York.  Although examples have been found in New York, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska and perhaps other states, the majority of those now in collections were recovered many years ago in Mexico.

Base in excellent condition, with fully intact embossing.  Entire insulator remains in very near mint+ condition, which is exceptional for this damage prone style.
