Description

#2537        CD 158.9      BOSTON BOTTLE WORKS    PATENT APLD FOR         Aqua.

Known as the "Screw-top Boston," this is a highly unusual and seldom seen insulator.  Most or all have been found in the South, primarily in Alabama and Georgia.  Some of those recovered have been located on the route of a railroad later known as the Central of Georgia Railway.  The most recent sizable discovery was a small grouping dug in 2004 at a construction site in Augusta, Georgia.  Most of the few examples found at that location had varying degrees of damage.

Clean chip off the top corner of the screw.  Wire ridge chip and open base bubble.  All the above on one side of the insulator (see second photo).  Displays quite well from all other sides.  Embossing on the inner skirt is fully intact and completely lacking any of the usual chips at bottom of the segmented threads.

An unusual rarity that seldom surfaces for sale.  Opening bid is a mere 15% of the amount realized on the example sold in Pole Top's September, 2020 event.
