Description

#2553      CD 154       DOMINION - 42        Aqua with metal.

Two pieces of corrugated metal are crimped together to form a shield as a means of protection from rocks and other projectiles.  These were used in rocky canyon areas where tumbling loose rocks often broke insulators as well as populated areas where stone throwing passersby or hunters would otherwise have damaged the insulators.

Typically these shields are found in conjunction with colorless glass insulators, this is the first aqua glass unit we've encountered.  The metal shield exhibits a consistent rust pattern throughout, so has the appearance of a lifelong marriage of the components.

Glass is very near mint.  Metal has surface rust.
