Description

#2677      1000      Unembossed.     Glass Block.      Bright green.

Glass blocks are among the earliest insulator types used in America, their usage going as far back as the 1840's.  The largest and perhaps most well known discovery of glass blocks was decades ago in a Gallatin, Tennessee railroad building.  Most of the units recovered were of various exotic colors including several differing green and darker amber shades and tones.

Included in the Gallatin discovery were several of this beautiful green coloration.  To our knowledge, examples in this color have not been found elsewhere. The small quantity of green units found decades ago have been distributed around the country with collectors, and they are rarely offered for sale.

Among the nicer known examples, with only minor shallow flaking on the sharp edges.
