“San Francisco wooden” insulator used on the trolley system in San Francisco, California. Much scarcer, round top type.
The cable top types were used on straight sections, with the heavy conductor placed in the top saddle groove. This round top design was used on corners, thus far fewer of them are available in the hobby.
Cleaned and very light wax or oil treatment applied to the wood.
The lighter sapwood in the front portion of the insulator contrasts very nicely with the darker heartwood.
Excellent condition.
