Description

#2765       FULLER    BOW     Iron covered white porcelain.

Insulator height: 5 inches.  Height with mounting pin 9 inches.

From Great Britain.  Once part of Keith Neal's collection, later purchased by Marilyn Albers after Keith's passing, and still later became a part of the Jim & Lis Bergman collection after Marilyn passed.

A similar example is is shown on page 47 as Figure 48 in Keith Neal's book titled Searching For Railway Telegraph Insulators.  He describes that example as: "Southern Railway, recovered from the Meon Valley Section.  It is of porcelain, covered with a heavy iron hood to allow the rain to wash it.  As a line insulator, the heavy wire was looped over the iron hook.  Marked 'Fuller Bow.'  Patented in 1867, it was one of the oldest insulators to survive into the 1960's period."

This type has only one "hook" on the side, opposed to some models which have a hook on each of two sides.

Excellent condition with coarse surface, which appears to be an original characteristic.

From the Jim & Lis Bergman collection.
