Description

#2770        Walker's double cone.      White porcelain.

Length: 3-1/2 inches.

Early insulator from Great Britain.

Overall, very much like the previous Lot #2769, except this one lacks the perpendicular slot for inserting the line wire. This design is similar to the very early Cooke insulators which also allowed the line wire to pass through the insulator body and then secured with a clip.  See third image below showing the Cooke type insulator as it appeared with the clip in place and the insulators mounted horizontally with wire running through them.

Note.... the auction photos show the insulator positioned upright.  When in actual use, the insulator would be positioned horizontally.

Very near mint.

From the Lis & Jim Bergman collection.
