#2774 BULLER, JOBSON & CO LD DUDLEY Brown stoneware.
Bullers was involved with the production of insulators at a very early date. Although an exact year has not been determined, it could have been as early as the 1840's. In 1885 Bullers purchased the Jobson Brothers business, and the company became known as Buller, Jobson & Company. In 1890 it became Bullers Limited.
The metal rod to the side wraps around the iron pin near the crossarm flange, then arcs upward and over the top of the insulator. We assume this is a means of providing lightning protection. Certainly a rarely encountered configuration! Insulator and pin are mounted on a rectangular piece of wood, included as part of the lot.
Very near mint+ condition. Still retains an abundance of surface soot / grime.
Jim & Lis Bergman collection.
