#2886 CD 196 HEMINGRAY HEMINGRAY NO 51 PAT MAY 2 1893. Medium-dark teal aqua.
Large impressive "umbrella" design. A single piece transposition insulator produced by the Hemingray Glass Company.
Examples with the additional "No 51" marking are much scarcer and more desirable to collectors than those lacking the extra lettering.
Especially attractive color, having teal tones which gives the glass extra brightness and vibrancy. Appealing creases on the dome spiral in a whirlpool pattern, adding desirable character.
Drip points on the upper umbrella are all totally free of any flakes. There's a bruise on the umbrella (seen left of center in second photo) up from five drip points, but does not remove any glass. Six drip points on the base are mostly shaved, and two others are partially flaked.
Scarce embossing and attractive color!
