#2985 CD 143 MONTREAL TELEGRAPH CO. Blue aqua with large white glob.
Embossed on one mold half. Tapered-grooved base.
A massive, milky-opaque impurity stretches nearly the full length of the pinhole, inside the front portion of the insulator.
The Montreal Telegraph Company was one of Canada’s earliest communication companies, having been formed in 1847. These jewels date from the later portion of M.T. Co. existence, likely from the middle 1870's to perhaps the very early 1880's.
A mostly unnoticeable, internal fracture traverses diagonally from above the "E" in Montreal to the wire groove, then extends part way around the reverse. Much of it is disguised, and not easily seen. Course impact spot on dome is 2/3 pinkie nail size. Not a perfect example, but displays quite well and the milky glob is impressive.
