Description

#3013       CD 1038      CUTTER.     PAT APR. 26 04.      Bright medium aqua.

Embossed in a circular pattern on the top.

This unusual design was patented by Scott C. Cutter of Oswego, Illinois, and was used primarily in wooded areas where the insulators were fastened to trees.

The "coffin bottom" units (like this example) may have been produced by Hemingray in Muncie, Indiana.  The coffin bottom examples are much, much scarcer than the concave base variants.

Glass Cutters have been found at numerous locations in all regions of the US, but typically only in limited numbers. They were used from New York State, through the Midwest, up into South Dakota and as far west as California and the Pacific Northwest.

Pinkie nail chip at front of one eye opening.  Chip at each of the back, bottom corners (see photo).  Pretty nice condition for this type item!!!
